ThoughtSpot Pricing: 2025 Plans, Tiers, and Total Cost Breakdown
Aug 12, 2025

Co-Founder & CEO, Upsolve AI
No wonder ThoughtSpot pricing is overwhelming. I’d a hard time figuring out the platform’s exact cost to my business.
So I choose to stay up and dig into ThoughtSpot’s various pricing tiers, usage-based charges, and optional add-ons to answer.
Because hey, I want to know how many times I would hear Ching! Ching! from my bank.
In this article, I'll provide a clear snapshot of ThoughtSpot's current pricing structure, explain why costs vary so much, and help you choose an ideal plan for your business.
P.S I’ve also added some ROI tips and tricks in between. ;)
TL;DR: ThoughtSpot Pricing at a Glance
Essentials Plan: Starting at $25 per user per month (billed annually). Suitable for small teams (5 to 50 users) and supports up to 25 million rows of data.
Pro Plan: Begins at $0.10 per query, designed for growing businesses with 25 to 1,000 users and up to 250 million rows of data. Includes advanced features like the Spotter AI Agent and Analyst Studio.
Enterprise Plan: Custom pricing; offers unlimited users and data. Includes comprehensive features for large-scale deployments.
Embedded Analytics: Developer Edition is free for one year, supporting up to 10 users and 25 million rows of data. Pro and Enterprise embedded plans offer flexible pricing for specific use cases and go-to-market requirements.

Suppose you're a team of 10 users opting for the Essentials Plan; your monthly cost would be approximately $25 x 10 = $250 per month (billed annually).
But that’s not the exact cost.
Let’s see how those numbers change once real-world factors kick in.
Thoughtspot Pricing Breakdown by Team Size & Usage
Here's a simple, honest breakdown of how ThoughtSpot pricing can vary depending on your team size and usage.
Small Team (≤ 20 users)
If you’re on a lean team, the Essentials Plan starts at $25 per user per month, billed annually.
For 10 users, that’s roughly $250 per month or $3,000 per year.
The biggest cost driver here is user count, not queries or storage.
But even then, you’re capped at 25 million data rows—so if you deal with large datasets, you’ll outgrow it fast.

Mid-Market (50–200 users)
Once you cross 50 users, you'd need the Pro plan, where instead of paying per user, you pay $0.10 per query.
Sounds fair, right? But think about it: if 100 users each run just 5 queries a day, you’re looking at $1,500/month, minimum.
And I haven’t even added advanced governance, data modelling, Analyst Studio (the AI engine), or better support.
Which, by the way, aren’t included—they come as premium add-ons—consider a few thousand dollars extra each month, depending on usage.

Enterprise (200+ users / heavy data)
This is where things get custom. You’ll need to go through sales.
I’ve seen teams negotiate flat rates, but that usually starts at six figures annually.
Go past 250 million data rows? You’re hit with overage fees. Expect higher pricing if you want premium uptime (SLA), multi-region access, or custom embedding.

Apart from the regular pricing, here are a few things that secretly (or not so secretly) affect the total CTC (Cost to Company):
User concurrency: The more users query at once, the higher the backend load, and yes—this affects cost.
Data sources: More connectors mean more complexity, hence, more $$$.
API calls: Heavy API use or real-time embedded dashboards can bring hidden platform usage charges.
Storage: Cross the free tier (25M or 250M rows), and you start paying more.
Support tier: Standard support comes with Essentials, but if you want real-time help or an account manager, that’s extra.
Price only makes sense in context, so how does ThoughtSpot stack up against the usual suspects?
ThoughtSpot Pricing vs Upsolve, Tableau, Power BI, & Looker
In this section, I thought of comparing ThoughtSpot pricing with its competitors.
Here’s a quick comparison table.
ThoughtSpot Pricing | Parameters | UpSolve | Tableau | Power BI | Looker |
$25 | Monthly Pricing | $1000 | $75(creator) | $14(Pro) | Custom |
✖️ | Free Tier | ✖️ | ✖️ | ✔️ | ✔️ |
Yes (Pro plan) | Pay-as-you-go | No | No | Yes (Embedded) | Yes |
Also based on this table, I have my verdict:
✅ Choose ThoughtSpot if: Your team requires advanced AI-driven analytics and willing to invest $25 x 10~20 users/month.
ThoughtSpot's Essentials plan can be a viable option, especially when compared to Looker's starting price of around $2,900/month.
❌ Go With Alternatives if: You’re soloprenurs or startup owners.
Power BI's Pro plan at $14/user/month and Tableau's Individual license at $15/user/month offer more affordable entry points.
And even if the numbers still feel high, you should know what’s bundled (and what isn’t).

Free Trial & Freemium Limits
I tried ThoughtSpot's free trial, and here’s what you need to know about the free trial and freemium limits:
To get the trial, I visited the ThoughtSpot Free Trial page and signed up using my business email.
The free trial lasts for 30 days, during which I can explore ThoughtSpot's capabilities, including:
✅ AI-powered search
✅ Liveboards
✅ Data visualization tools.
It's comprehensive. Although there are some limits:
❌ During the trial, I’m limited to analyzing up to 5 million data rows. This is sufficient for my initial testing, but for larger datasets, I’d require a paid plan.
❌ I could export my analyses and dashboards; however, there was a cap on the number of rows I could download, with the default limit set at 1 million rows. This was adequate for my testing purposes.
💡 Tips to Test ROI Before the Clock Runs Out
Early in the trial, I connected my own datasets to ThoughtSpot. This gave me a realistic view of how the platform would handle my specific data structures and queries.
I spent time testing the AI-powered search feature, asking questions to see how well ThoughtSpot could interpret and respond.
I pushed the limits of the 5 million row cap to see how ThoughtSpot performed under heavier data loads.
I tested the export features to understand limitations and ensure I could easily share insights and reports with stakeholders.
Hidden Costs & Contract Gotchas
There are few other factors to consider with ThoughtSpot Pricing:
Onboarding services: Offers implementation assistance and onboarding support, but it is not typically included in the base subscription cost and is usually a separate, paid service.
Data overuse: Each plan has a data row limit, exceeding these limits may incur additional costs.
Query concurrency throttles: ThoughtSpot may have limitations on concurrent query execution, which can affect performance during peak usage times.
Support tier upgrades: The Essentials plan includes standard support, while higher-tier plans like Pro and Enterprise offer enhanced or premium support options. Upgrading support tiers may involve additional fees.
Is ThoughtSpot Worth the Money? ROI in Plain Numbers
Frontify improved speed-to-insights by 99% with ThoughtSpot, leading to significant annual savings in operational costs.
Let’s consider a hypothetical example.
For a team of 50 users, the Essentials Plan at $25 per user per month totals $1,250 monthly or $15,000 annually.
Assuming each user saves 2 hours per week, at an average hourly rate of $50.
The team, in total, saves 100 hours weekly, which adds to a wooping $5,000 in weekly savings or $260,000 annually. Plus, the qualitative productivity gains.
So almost half of what you invest is recovered in a week. Even better, the initial investment in ThoughtSpot could be recouped within a month.
💡How to calculate your ROI from ThoughtSpot in 3 steps
✅ Determine the average number of queries each user will perform daily. For instance, if each user runs 10 queries per day, that's 500 queries daily for a 50-user team.
✅ Identify tasks that can be automated or streamlined using ThoughtSpot, reducing the need for additional hires or reallocating existing resources.
✅ Analyze how quicker access to insights can lead to faster decision-making, improved customer experiences, and ultimately, increased revenue.
What Real Users Say About Pricing
I read throught 20205 reviews, and I think users have approved ThoughtSpot’s latest pricing model.
It was also conclusive that users have a positive sentiment around ThoughtSpot. For small businesses, it has been a great leap in data analysis.
“I like how easy it is to analyze data without needing to know sql.
I can just type a question and get charts or tables right away. It’s really fast and saves me from waiting on reports.”
– Lavishka, Marketing analyst, Small business
However, many reviewers shared a steep learning curve as a common drawback.
“It takes a little getting used to. especially if you’re used to traditional BI tools like Tableau.”
– Max B. Small business
How to Pick the Right Plan (Decision Framework)
Let me walk you through a straightforward framework to help you choose the right ThoughtSpot plan:
1. Map user count & query volume
Start by assessing how many people in your team will use ThoughtSpot and how often they'll run queries.
For instance, the Essentials plan supports up to 20 users and 25 million data rows at $1,250 per month, billed annually.
If your team exceeds these limits, you may need to consider higher-tier plans, such as Pro or Enterprise, which offer custom pricing and accommodate more users and data.
2. Check must-have features vs add-ons
Identify the features essential for your operations.
The Essentials plan includes natural language search and basic dashboards.
However, advanced features like embedded analytics, enhanced governance controls, and premium support are available in higher-tier plans or as add-ons.
3. Estimate storage & concurrency growth
Consider your current and future data storage needs and how many users might access the system simultaneously.
Essentials supports up to 25 million rows, Pro up to 500 million, and Enterprise offers unlimited data capacity.
Additionally, higher-tier plans are better equipped to handle increased concurrency without performance degradation
4. Negotiate term length & success plan
ThoughtSpot's pricing is typically billed annually.
However, discussing multi-year agreements may provide opportunities for discounts or additional benefits.
Evaluate the level of support your organization requires; higher-tier plans offer enhanced support options, which can be crucial for mission-critical applications.
