Pricing. Isn’t that the first thing we look at?
But with GoodData, you won’t find it on the homepage.
Or the pricing page.
Just a “Contact Sales” button and vague promises.
So let’s fix that.
In this blog, I’ll show you:
What GoodData actually costs (based on real teams using it)
What’s included and what’s quietly added as an upsell
How fast the price climbs with API calls, users, storage, or white-label needs
Whether it’s worth it based on your stage, usage, and team size
And what to pick if you want similar power, but way less cost
If you’re scaling analytics and want clarity before committing, read this first.
Because no one likes finding out their BI tool costs more than their CRM.
Let’s dive in.
TL;DR GoodData Pricing Overview
GoodData offers two premium plans (Professional and Enterprise) and a 30-day free trial of its full platform.
The Professional plan offers a per-workspace pricing model. In other words, you pay for the number of workspaces you create, with no limit on users and data per workspace.
The Enterprise Plan has custom, use-case-based pricing. The best perks include enterprise-grade security, compliance, and access to AI.
GoodData charges a platform fee plus a charge for each workspace and any add-ons you pick with your plan
My two cents: The per-workspace pricing model is good because it’s a nice-to-have feature if you’re managing multiple clients or user groups, as each can have its workspace without incurring additional user-based charges.
“I like pricing per workspace instead of pricing per user. Our internal users don't have to worry about pricing whenever we change the number of employees.”
However, let’s take a detailed look at what each plan holds.
What Do You Get With Each GoodData Pricing Plan?
GoodData offers two pricing plans: Professional and Enterprise.
Professional Plan:
Pricing is based on the number of workspaces plus a platform fee.
While it offers unlimited users and data, the pricing is not transparent, and I had to contact GoodData directly to get the exact pricing details.
Enterprise Plan:
Custom use-case-based pricing.
You get everything in the professional plan, plus enterprise-grade security and compliance features.
Which brings us to the good part: what’s included in each plan. Here’s a simple comparison table:
Feature | Professional Plan | Enterprise Plan |
Pricing | Per-workspace pricing: Platform fee + number of workspaces | Custom use-case-based pricing |
User & Data Limits | Unlimited | Unlimited |
White Labeling | ✅ | ✅ |
Embedded Analytics (via iFrame, Web Components, APIs, and React SDK.) | ✅ | ✅ |
AI Assistant for natural language queries | ✅ (Limited) | ✅ |
Multi-region & Self-hosted deployment | ❌ | ❌ (on demand) |
FlexQuery Storage | Limited FlexQuery storage | Full access to FlexQuery storage |
Custom Dashboard Extensions | ✅ | ✅ |
Custom Domains, Themes, Branding | ✅ | ✅ |
Usage Analytics | ❌ | ✅ |
Support | Standard | 24/7 prioritized SLAs and a dedicated customer success manager. |
Uptime SLA | Not specified | 99.5% guaranteed |
What Factors Affect GoodData Pricing for Your Business?
Since GoodData has a rather ‘untransparent pricing,’ it’s hard to know the cost without contacting their sales team.
However, I noticed a few factors that could affect pricing, such as:
Number of Projects:
GoodData charges per workspace and not per user.
So, if your team needs multiple isolated projects or client-specific dashboards, your costs can increase quickly.
For example, managing 10 client workspaces at $30 each already puts you at $300/month (that's before adding platform fees)
Data Volume and API Calls:
Regardless of your plan, you are capped on the number of AI queries.
If you’re pushing large datasets or running frequent queries, the costs can go up.
I mean, why else would GoodData sell additional AI queries as an add-on?
“Scaling the platform for larger datasets got expensive quickly, and the pricing structure felt inflexible for our evolving requirements.”
— Jescissa (Small Business Owner)
Need for Customization or Support:
If you need custom connectors, better governance, quality support, or any ONE of these, you must request the Enterprise plan, which means extra negotiation and budget!
On-Premise vs Cloud Deployment:
GoodData offers on-premise deployment with the Enterprise plan only.
Compared to cloud deployment, it added complexity, and the pricing reflected that.
How Does GoodData Pricing Compare to Other BI Tools?
Next is a comparison table to position GoodData against competitors like Upsolve, Looker, Tableau, and ThoughtSpot in terms of cost, scalability, and value.
Good Data | Key Features | Upsolve | Looker | Tableau | ThoughtSpot |
✅ (30 days) | Free trial | ✅ (30 days) | ✅ (30 days) | ✅ (14 days) | ✅ (14 days) |
Custom (Est. $12,000/yr) | Starting Price | $1000 (50 tenants) | Custom (Est. $3,000+/mo) | $15/user | $25/user |
✅ AI-powered semantic layers and NLP queries | AI | ✅AI-generated dashboards, alerts | Limited (via BigQuery) | ❌ Add-on (Einstein AI) | ✅ (Strong GenAI + search) |
SaaS teams needing embedded, multi-tenant BI | Best for | GTM teams that want AI-powered growth reporting | Enterprise users with complex data models | Teams wanting drag-and-drop dashboards | Analysts and execs needing search-based BI |
💡Key Takeaways:
GoodData has strong multi-tenant & embedded features but requires direct sales to unlock pricing.
Upsolve is the most AI-native out of the box and offers transparent pricing.
Tableau is cost-effective for small teams, but AI tools cost extra.
ThoughtSpot blends search + GenAI well, but can get expensive as users scale.
Looker is powerful but typically needs engineering help and a big budget.
Hidden Costs Involved With GoodData Pricing
The first hidden cost is the pricing itself.
It’s all custom, and you need to get on par with their sales team to get a quote.
On top of that, here are a few things that add up to your GoodData pricing:
💰 Platform Fee
~$1,500/month = charged no matter how small you start.
👨💻 Engineering Setup
You’ll need at least 1 dedicated engineer.
~100 hrs at $100/hr = $10,000 upfront (one-time).
🔌 Third-Party Integrations
Custom connectors, APIs, and maintenance =
~$7,000/year → ~$580/month
📦 Now Add the Workspace Pricing
10 workspaces → $30 each = $300/month
So, if you’re on the professional plan, which costs $30 per workspace, let's say.
💸 Your Actual Monthly Cost?
Platform fee: $1,500
Workspaces: $300
Integration amortized: $580
= $2,380/month (plus $10K setup upfront)
TL;DR: That $30/month plan?
It’s actually $12,380 once everything’s running.
Next: Is it worth it for your stage? Or should you look elsewhere?
What’s the ROI of GoodData Pricing?
According to G2, the time to implement GoodData is approximately 4 months, and the average return on investment is realized in 17 months.
Which is a lengthy timeline.
ThoughtSpot achieves a better ROI with half the investment recovered within weeks.

💡How to calculate your ROI from GoodData
Measure efficiency gains: If your team spends 10 hours weekly on manual reporting, automating this with GoodData could save approximately 520 hours annually. Assigning a value to this (e.g., $50/hour), and you’ve an estimate!
Track Revenue Impact: If improved insights contribute to a 5% increase in sales for a business generating $1 million annually, that's an additional $50,000 in revenue.
Determine Break-Even Point: If the combined annual benefits amount to $30,000 and the platform costs $12,000 per year, you could expect to break even within 5 months.
Who Should and Shouldn’t Choose GoodData Based on Pricing?
GoodData pricing might not be very attractive if you happen to be a small business.
But it still makes sense for enterprises and large engineering teams requiring complete control over their data.
That said, here’s what I think:
✅ GoodData is a smart choice if... | ❌ GoodData is not ideal if... |
You’re a mid-to-large SaaS company with enterprise clients | You’re a startup or small business with a tight budget |
You need advanced data modeling and a semantic layer | You prefer plug-and-play BI tools without a heavy setup |
You want embedded analytics across multiple workspaces | You can’t justify a $1,500/month platform fee upfront |
You’re okay with the engineering setup and ongoing dev work | You need to launch fast with minimal technical effort |
You’re scaling and need a per-workspace model for clients | You want all-in-one pricing with fewer hidden costs |
Conclusion
Let’s quickly sum up what GoodData pricing means for you:
GoodData offers robust embedded analytics capabilities, making it ideal for SaaS companies aiming to provide analytics to their clients.
Its per-workspace pricing model allows for scalability as your client base grows.
Open semantic layer and support for complex data models offer better customizibility for companies with intricate data structures.
However, for smaller businesses or those seeking more straightforward solutions, GoodData’s entry-level costs, including platform fees and per-user charges, can be concerning.
